Summary:
Dr. Taylor will educate participants on the importance of recognizing their inner strengths to cultivate emotional resilience. Given the state of the world; global pandemic, systematic racism, educators and professionals can benefit from finding the power within themselves to realize their aspirations despite the pervasive challenges that arise. Dr. Taylor will be discussing ways in which we can boost our own individual resilience, improve our well-being, and prevent burnout. Focusing on individual well-being and action is simply not enough, leaders in organizations must take responsibility for substantially improving the conditions in which people work. If we boost our individual resilience, then we will have more energy to address organizational and systematic conditions.

Professional Bio:
Dr. Lawrence Taylor is a native Houstonian and licensed professional counselor in the State of Texas. He has been working in the field of counseling for the past thirteen years in various settings such as psychiatric hospitals, community agencies, primary and secondary school settings, universities, and private practice. He currently serves as a School-based Mental Health Practitioner at KIPP ZENITH Academy in Houston, Texas as well as the Executive Director of Mindful Change, PLLC where he currently does individual counseling as well as anger management and social skills groups for at risk adolescent boys in Child Protective Services custody. Dr. Taylor has presented research at professional conferences, published in referred journals, as well as served as keynote speaker for various organizations. Dr. Taylor is truly passionate about helping individuals realize and aspire towards their greatest potential. It is his belief that changing behavior, first being with changing your mind.
