"Hidden GEMs" TxGAP Mentorship Program

The TxGAP Hidden GEMs Mentor Program is a member only benefit for early career and experienced GEM professionals to enhance their professional knowledge, skills, and success in the field within the state of Texas. The purpose of the Hidden GEMs program is to provide opportunities for TxGAP members to expand relationships with colleagues, share best practices, and increase engagement with TXGAP and the GEM profession.
Timeline and Process:
Following the submission of the application, candidates are then matched based on geography, role, discipline, and/or organizational context. A Kickoff mixer will be held at the annual summer institute each June to discuss roles and expectations for all mentors and mentees. Those that are unable to attend the mixer will be required to speak with the Chair of the Professional Development Committee and their mentor/mentee prior to commencing the program.

Key Roles:
TxGAP will provide members with an effective mentoring partnership that will support knowledge and skill development of each member. The mentor program will offer mentors and mentees a framework for conversations to help make each conversation productive and meaningful. Joining the program requires a commitment from May 2021-May 2022.
MENTORS will provide time, commitment, skills, experience, knowledge, and wisdom to an early career GEM professional.
MENTEES will provide time, commitment, skills, experience, knowledge, and wisdom to become a rising GEM professional.
